K P PRASNAM

What is Prashnam? How does is it work?

One of the most useful and dynamic branches of Vedic astrology is Prashna, which literally means question.
This is called Horary Astrology in the West.

Here the  Natal chart reading is like using a wide-angle lens. One gets the full view, but it seems far away, and one cannot see all the details. To get more detail one could zoom in and look at a smaller segment of time. The real close-up shot or microscopic view would be to focus just on one question for a specific period of time. This is prashna.

  • Prashnam or Horary Astrology has advantage over the natal chart in that, the exact time of the “query” is known accurately. where as one may or may not be sure about the accuracy of one’s horoscope or birth time. The Prashnam branch of science is perfect and most useful in day to day life and an astrologer , who has thorough knowledge of the rules and principles, can offer accurate predictions.

The rules of Prashnam are simple. The person who is asking the question must be sincere and earnest in his/her desire to get an answer to their question.
    .
    Examples of questions would be

lost my job. When will I find a new job?
  • I am thinking of relocating. Is this a good choice?
  • When will I get married?
The KP Astrology is an excellent system (Paddhati) of astrological predictions conceived,
created by The Great Indian Astrology master, late Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti.

KP has revolutionised the Prashna Astrology or Horary Astrology by diving the zodiac into 249 subs and the concept of ruling planet is also unique. A number between 1- 249 is taken from the querist and the number gives the position of the Ascendant for the query and 12 cusps are erected along with the planetary positions on the given day and time of analysis.

Ruling planets are the few planets which rule the particular moment.

*The exact position of the zodiac which is rising at the moment for the locality on that day*The name of the day*The constellation in which Moon would be passing*Sign which Moon would be passing.

KP Astrology fundamentals and it difference with Vedic

KP gives importance to Nakshatras or Constellations unlike houses given by Vedic Astrology. In Vedic Astrology Zodiac is divided into 27 nakshatras or constellations 13 degree 20 minutes each and 12 houses 30 degree each. Traditional Vedic Astrologers gives importance to the houses whereas a KP Astrologers gives importance to the constellations as well as houses.

KP has further sub divided the constellations each into 9 unequal parts known as "sub". Division of "sub" is in accordance with Vimshottari Dasa system followed in Vedic Astrology. For example the sun "sub" whose maha dasa period lasts for 6 years is having smaller sub area compared to Venus whose maha dasa lasts for 20 years.

KP Ayanamsha is different from Lahiri ayanamsa which is mostly followed by Vedic Astrologers. KP Ayanamsha is ahead of Lahiri Ayanamsha by six minutes.

KP uses the bhava or house begining rather than the house madhya used by Vedic Astrologers. KP also followed the Placidus house system which has got unequal house divisions as opposed to equal house division of 30 degree followed in Vedic Astrology. The cusps used by KP system can differentiate the difference in fate of twins in reality.

Every 4 minutes the degree of Ascendant changes as a result the all the "cuspal sub lords" related to the ascendant also changes. It has been seen that the cuspal sub lords of the 12 cusps can change if there is a difference in birth time even by a minute.

In predictive astrology KP gives importance to exact position of the planet i,e the nakshatra where the planet is positioned along the "sub" where it is positioned. Planet gives the result of the nakshatra lord where it is positioned and the "sub" confirms whether the desired result expected out of the planet based on its lordship and position in a particular nakshatra would be fullfilled in reality or not. Two planets positioned in same nakshatra can give two different results if the "sub" lord changes.

 Example

Now Ruling planets are noted

The sign lord for Leo - Sun
The star lord              - Sun ( Uthram nakshatram)
Moon is in sagiturus sign -
               The Moon sign lord -Jupiter
The moon star lord - Venus (Puradam nakshatram)
Day lord - Friday - venus

Rules for positve answer -

1. If horary ( the no recalled ) sub lord and moon star lord is same.

2. The sign lord, sub lord and star lord of the horary no is also found in the ruling planet
Answer - The no 2 told by the querist will give postive answer
as 1. The horary sublord Venus is matching with the Day lord and the sub lord of the horary no Venus giving a positive answer.
